Greg Kohn

Chief Growth Officer

What I do at Virtual:

I am responsible for driving the growth of Virtual as well as its client organizations. For Virtual itself, I lead our company’s business development activities, including the continuous (re)positioning of new services and offerings into the markets we serve. I also collaborate closely with our client teams – and our clients themselves — to help ensure every client we serve meets or exceeds its strategic objectives. My passion is to move ideas from concept to reality, and I am fortunate to be able to do that on a daily basis at Virtual.

Years of experience:

12 years at Virtual, 25+ years at the confluence of standards and association management

Past employment:

  • Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
  • American Society of Civil Engineers

Education:

B.A., Journalism, The College of New Jersey; M.S., Communications, New Jersey Institute of Technology

Favorite client story:

Every mobile phone on earth contains an implementation of at least one standard that I’ve been involved with at some point in my career. It’s really neat to think of the impact of my work at that scale.

Every mobile phone on earth contains an implementation of at least one standard that I’ve been involved with at some point in my career.

Hidden talent:

I was a freelance writer for Men’s Health magazine for several years. Unfortunately I’ve not been asked to be on the cover yet.

What I do for fun:

Spending time with my four kids; traveling; spraying golf balls around scenic courses.

I can’t live without:

My calendar – it’s essential for keeping all parts of my life organized.

Important life lesson:

Set goals and be persistent in working toward them. Don’t let setbacks – even if they seem significant — derail your pursuit of the future you want. Think positive and keep going.

Progress over perfection.
